Purpose of Trust Fund :
JMF aims to enable people who are marginalised, as a result of social, educational, physical, economic, cultural, geographical or other disadvantage to improve their social conditions and quality of life.


Trust Fund Policy:
The Foundation is particularly interested in supporting those groups that find it more than usually difficult to raise money and are small or new rather than long-established.


Beneficial Area(s):
Whilst it is a national trust, currently it concentrates on funding projects based in Merseyside (including Skelmersdale, Halton, and Ellesmere Port, but priority will be given to projects working within the area of the former county of Merseyside) and Northern Ireland.

Running costs
One-off projects
Equipment
Help towards salaries

The size of grant varies, but in general over 75% of grants are £5000 or less and about a third are £1000 or less.

Restrictions:
GENERALLY DOES NOT FUND:
- Individuals
- National (or, in the case of Northern Ireland province-wide) organisations or groups based outside the area even where some of the service users come from Merseyside or Northern Ireland
- Statutory bodies or work previously done by them
- Mainstream education (schools, colleges, universities)
- Faith-based projects exclusively for members of that faith, or for the promotion of religion
- Capital building costs - except, in Merseyside only, to improve access for disabled people
- Festivals, carnivals and fetes
- Medicine & health
- Holidays, expeditions & outings
- Gifts, parties etc.
- Sport
- Vehicles
- Animal charities
- Arts, crafts, heritage, or local history projects
- Conservation & environmental projects
- Employment & enterprise schemes
- Victims - except rape crisis and domestic violence projects
- Academic or medical research
- Uniformed groups (e.g. scouts, cadets, majorettes)
- Sponsorship, advertising or fund-raising events
AND, in Northern Ireland only:
- Children & young people - except under the headings listed under \\\"Grants for Northern Ireland\\\" (see website)
- Playgroups except those which directly address marginalisation and focus on real social disadvantage.
